Roll On 2016!
Although 2016 seems a long way off, the UK fleet are very excited about being awarded the 2016 Etchells World Championships. Not only is it a huge boost to our fleet, it enables us to race in the premier sailing waters in the UK – Weymouth.

The general location in the Southwest of England.

The specific location of the area and courses.
Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Association (WPNSA) have hosted many National, European and World events, and posess a honed, slick machine to deliver outstanding championships. As a result of the £30 million that was spent on the facilities and surrounding area, they are simply unparalleled: marina berths, restaurant, event rooms, several cranes, gyms, professional and highly experienced staff, space for trailers, cars, and a variety of accommodation and other on shore facilities. Of course, we must not forget the racing; Weymouth Bay has minimum tides and a reliable sailing breeze of between 6 and 25 knots. The sailing area is three miles from the dock. The Dorset coast is a protective area of national beauty, and there are numerous historic and Jurassic sites. Weymouth is only two and a half hours from London. Access from airports is easy and boats can be either trailed from Southampton or Weymouth, or shipped in directly to the site.

Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth the Second, approves.

World class facilities are on offer.

It is our intention to have a build-up in 2015 and 2016 with both the Nationals and Europeans to be held in Weymouth. And of course, you all be able to closely examine the sailing area later this year, as the 2012 Olympics are in Weymouth. As you follow the Olympic sailing, imagine yourself out in those same waters in 2016. We are aiming to have a friendly event, and organise everything to make your stay a memorably one. Dates for 2016 have yet to be finalised, but we hope to do so within the next three months.

Free carparking, all manner of facilities and realitve ease of access at Weymouth.
